Please review with your child.

If you decide to purchase a purple orchid single strand lei it may be picked up in the cafeteria before promotion begins (3pm).

The 8th grade dance will be held in the school cafeteria. Students will be allowed to enter beginning at 7:00 pm. Snacks are being provided by the 8th grade parent committee through the donations of 8th grade families. The dance will end at 9:00pm. Please make sure to be here on time to pick up your child. The dress code also applies to the dance.

8th Grade Promotion & Dance Dress Code

SJEA Promotion is a formal academic occasion and should be viewed as such in dress and demeanor. To provide a sense of dignity and formality to our ceremony, students are expected to follow the dress code. The ceremony is a privilege, not a requirement or right.

Dress Code:
• Boys must wear dress pants (khakis are fine) or black jeans and a collared shirt; jackets are optional.
• Girls are to wear a dress or nice pant outfit. (Girls may wear summer dresses that would be appropriate for an afternoon party. Strapless dresses are inappropriate for a Junior High ceremony).
• Dresses with “spaghetti straps” or off-the-shoulder styles or halter-tops, should be worn with a jacket and necklines should not be low-cut (shawls are not acceptable replacements for a jacket).
• Please no tuxedos or semi-formal dresses.
• Blue jeans, shorts and sweat pants are not to be worn.
• Barn boots, army boots, flip -flops, tennis shoes and chunky sandals are not to be worn.

Students are asked to wear clean, neat clothes to the Eighth Grade Promotion and Dance. Clothing is expected to conform to the SJEA Dress Code with the exception that young ladies may wear dresses with shoulder straps provided they are appropriate. All clothing and shoes will be checked prior to the promotion, students choosing to ignore the dress code will not be allowed to participate. The dress code is not meant to cause a financial hardship, please do not feel you must purchase new clothes. If you have any questions, please call Ms. Lemus (ext. 5005).
