SJEA mourns the
loss of our student and classmate, Virgilio Estoque, known to
everyone as ‘JR’.
JR passed away
on December 25th, after a year long battle with cancer. JR was
an 8th grade student in Mr. Malana’s homebase class, and has been
a student at SJEA since Kindergarten.
JR was an amazing
young man with a fire in his spirit. He loved life and spread
smiles and laughter to all who came in contact with him. Always
reminding his teachers and classmates that there were no periods
in his name, JR knew what he liked and didn't let anyone change
him.
One of the things that
he will always be remembered for at SJEA is his love of music
and dance. Finding a teacher that would let him use the radio
during lunchtime was JR's mission. After securing his location
and getting the radio station set to the perfect music, he'd begin
dancing with his audience surrounding him. The joy that this dancing
brought to JR was infectious and would make anyone's day better.
JR will be missed but not
forgotten by his SJEA family!
Ms. VanMaanen, JR's
6th and 7th Grade Homebase Teacher
