| Project BackPack | |
One of our very own SJEA families has been personally affected by this natural disaster and has taken the initiative to organize a 'backpack drive" to send to the children of Samoa. As a part of our continues effort to give back to those in need , SJEA has decided to help the Aiono Family to reach their goal of collecting 200 backpacks to send to these children who have lost almost all of their personal belongings. Our turn around time to meet this goal is very short, so we need your help! There will be a container leaving for Samoa in a little over one week! We would like to collect as many backpacks filled with school supplies by Friday, October, 23rd. If you can find it in your heart to donate a backpack (does not need to be an expensive one) with a notebook, pencils, crayons, a coloring book or anything else that you can put in would help in brightening the day of a child. $10 at the 99 cent store can go a very long way! Something as simple as a reading book or a coloring book could help bring life back to normal for one of these children who have had to experience such a tragic event. Although it would be nice to send toys, most of these children are homeless and will not have a place to put their toys, so we would prefer to send school supplies, books and or a small stuffed animal . . . who wouldn't want to cuddle up with a Teddy Bear! The Aiono family cannot do this alone, so we are counting on our staff and our SJEA families to help meet our 200 Backpack goal! We have one week to do this, so with your compassion and generosity, together we can make a difference! Please send
your backpack with your child or you may also drop off in room 404. We
will have a form they can complete so that the backpack recipient can
also receive a note from the donating family. All families will be recognized
on our school website, all students will be entered into a drawing and
will also receive a Free Dress day pass ... our Leadership Team is also
looking into other incentives!!! For more information, please contact
Ms. Palos or Ms.
Aiono. Thank you in advance for your help! |
